FCA Meeting

  The Fellowship of Christian Athletes will be having a meeting on Wednesday after school in room 1175. Please come and join us at the FCA after school meeting for fun and fellowship. Remember, you do not have to be an athlete to join. All are welcome. Thank you.

Dual Credit Summer School registration

  Dual Credit Summer School registration continues this week. Registration will close on March 1. Visit the dual credit schoology page or the dual credit website on the counselor's website for the registration powerpoint. Dual Credit summer school is only offered to students who have taken or are currently in dual credit classes.

FFA Fundraiser w Raising Cane's

  FFA is having a fundraiser night at Raising Cane's on February 26th at the location across from the berry center. From 3:30pm to 9:00pm. Mention Cy Lakes FFA when you go!

Cap & Gown Info

  Students who still need to order their cap and gown or any other graduation products can do so at www.balfourgrad.com until the end of February for the main delivery at school. You can also stop by their office to order in person at 8525 Westland West Blvd, Houston, TX 77041. Delivery on campus will be on April 2nd and 3rd during lunch. You can also purchase your cap and gown on April 2nd or 3rd. After this, you can make your purchase at the Balfour office.

US History STAAR EOC Prep

  The US History STAAR EOC exam is April 16th. Are you prepared? Attend US History EOC tutorials to ensure you are ready for the big day. Our next US History EOC tutorial will be on Wednesday, February 26th, after school in Room 2311 and in Room 2312 for a review in Spanish. The topic of the review will be Industrialism and the Gilded Age. For more information, ask your US History teacher or check out the posters around the building.

Black History Moment: Barbara Jordan

  And now for your Black History Moment: Today we honor Barbara Jordan. Barbara Jordan was born in Houston , Texas's Fifth Ward . She was the first African American elected to the Texas Senate after Reconstruction and the first Southern African-American woman elected to the United States House of Representatives. She was best known for her eloquent opening statement at the House Judiciary Committee hearings during the impeachment process against Richard Nixon , and as the first African-American as well as the first woman to deliver a keynote address at the 1976 Democratic National Convention .  And this concludes your Black History Moment. You better wake up and pay attention!

Black History moment: Debbie Allen

A native Houstonian, Allen has been a true trailblazer in the world of entertainment and a symbol of Black excellence. From her unforgettable role as Lydia Grant in “Fame” to her groundbreaking work as an actress, director, choreographer and philanthropist, Allen has left an indelible mark on the industry. We salute Debbie Allen for her countless contributions and her historic achievements, including becoming the first Black woman to receive the prestigious Governor's Award at the 73rd Emmys. We would like to thank Yunier Sanchez for this morning’s announcement. And this concludes your Black HIstory Moment. You better wake up and pay attention!

Congrats to Kara May

  A special recognition is going out to Senior Kara May. Congratulations to Kara for passing her State Board Cosmetology Exam and becoming a Licensed Cosmetologist. She will soon have a career in the Cosmetology field before graduation. Great job Kara.
