Science NHS Meeting

  The Science National Honor Society will meet on Wednesday morning at 6.45am in the LGI. Noura, Abril, Valeria and Yahir will be presenting.

National Honor Society (NHS) Meeting

  The National Honor Society (NHS) will have an Interest Meeting on Tuesday, October 8 in the LGI at 2:50pm. This meeting is open to all Juniors and Seniors who are interested in service, leadership, character and scholarship.

Voter Registration Drive

  Today's the day! The CyLakes voter registration drive is taking place in the library during 1st through 6th periods. If you are a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old by November 5th, you may be eligible to vote in the presidential election. You need to know your driver's license number or the last 4 digits of your Social Security number in order to register. Seniors in Government and Economics classes will visit the library during their gov or eco class periods. Seniors who are not in gov or eco classes this semester can visit the library during lunch. Get ready to make your voice heard, Spartans, and register to vote!

College & Career Info

  Good Morning, Spartans! Cy-Lakes offers a number of opportunities to help students achieve their post-secondary goals all while earning a high school diploma. Did you know that we offer many different career certification opportunities through our career and technology courses? Students also have the opportunity to begin earning college credit through Advanced Placement or Dual Credit. When picking your courses for next school year, be sure to take advantage of these opportunities when registering with your counselor.

Hispanic Heritage Month

  Buenos días Spartans, for Hispanic Heritage Month today we are recognizing Dr. Humberto Fernandez-Morán, a Venezuelan scientist and inventor, who played a pivotal role in advancing electron microscopy technology as well as creating the first diamond shaped scalpel and later working with NASA in the Apollo Project. His groundbreaking work in the mid-20th century significantly improved our understanding of cellular structures and led to important developments in medical research. Dr. Fernandez-Morán's legacy continues to inspire scientists worldwide, reminding us of the profound impact of Hispanic scientists on the field of microscopy and beyond.

FCA Meeting

Mu Alpha Theta (MAO) Peer Tutoring

  “Hello Spartans! Mu Alpha Theta is offering math tutoring on Wednesdays after school in the C-2 portable. Everyone is welcome to join us and ask questions about the SAT, PSAT, various math subjects, and more!”

College & Career Info

  Did you know there are over 40 colleges/universities/programs in the Houston area? This includes a range of public and private universities, community colleges, health programs, law schools and other graduate degree programs. This just means there is a wonder of opportunity right at your doorstep and all you have to do is look! All Juniors and Seniors get two college days each year to go visit different colleges during a regular school day to get a glimpse of what a regular college day looks like! Students must pick up the college day form from the attendance office and bring it back signed so that it counts as an excused absence.

Register to Vote

  Students, did you know that if you are a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old by November 5th, you may be eligible to vote in the presidential election? Ask a gov/eco teacher or see Mrs. Thompson in Room 2417 if you have questions about voter registration. Remember, Spartans, your vote is your voice.

Tonight is College Night

  Tonight is the district’s annual College Night held at the Berry Center from 6-8pm open to students and their parents. There will be around 200 different organizations represented from across the nation! This is a great opportunity to check out different programs and what is out there for YOU in your future after high school.

College & Career Week

  Good Morning, Spartans! This is College & Career Week! The goal of College Week is to inspire all students to continue their education after high school and to celebrate the students who choose to pursue higher education at a professional training program, a community college, a four-year college or university, or the military. Tomorrow is Cy-Fair’s annual College Night held at the Berry Center from 6-8pm. Wear your favorite college/military shirt to represent!

Congrats Cypress Lakes Orchestra students

  Congratulations to Cypress Lakes Orchestra students Rianna Shezbie, Bryan Gallegos, Katherine Penaloza, and Pablo Varela for excellent job performing at the Region 27 Contest. Big Congratulations to William Randall on being accepted into the Region 27 Orchestra on Double Bass. Pablo Varela also earned the honor of being selected to the Houston Youth Symphony Orchestra this year on Viola. Great job Spartans on your hard work and achievements this year.

Future Scholars Club

  “Are you interested in tutoring others in Science, English, or Social Studies? Join the Future Scholars Club, where we offer one-on-one and group tutoring sessions to support our peers who need help in these subjects. The first interest meeting is on Tuesday, October 1st in room 1169 after school. Come help make a difference in others!”
