FBLA Info

  Hello there Spartan Business Leaders! If you were not able to attend the general session meeting earlier this week, please review the info slides in our Schoology group. For the F.B.L.A. members planning to be a part of our Lakes’ competition team for the 24-25 school year, be sure you have registered on the F.B.L.A. connect website and submit the google competition form by today, October 11th. The sign-up form for our first Area 8 competition is located in our F.B.L.A. Schoology group and must be submitted today for the members wanting to compete this school year. We are looking forward to a RECORD BREAKING competition season!!

Bowling team Tryouts

  Hey Spartans, did you know our school has had a successful bowling team the last 8 years? The boys and girls team both advanced to the regional playoffs last year! There are tryouts today after school and next week Thursday after school at Copperfield Bowling Alley. Tryouts cost 15 dollars.

Hispanic Heritage Month

Buenos días Spartans, for Hispanic Heritage Month today we are recognizing Elena Ochoa. Ochoa made her mark by becoming the first Hispanic American woman to go to space with a nine-day mission in 1993. Ochoa was born in 1958 in Los Angeles, years after her paternal grandparents immigrated from Mexico. Ochoa made history on board the space shuttle Discovery on a mission to study the Earth’s ozone layer. She later completed three more missions. Ochoa became the first Hispanic American director of the Johnson Space Center in 2013, only the second woman to take the helm.

Mu Alpha Theta (MAO) Bake Sale

  “Hey Spartans! Mu Alpha Theta is hosting a bake sale right after school in the Commons, right in front of the finance window. Come by and grab a treat; everything will be $1!”

Key Club Meeting

  Good morning Key Clubbers! Our next member's meeting will be held in the LGI this Thursday after school. We will also be hosting a club social right after the general meeting where teams can create an uplifting "take what you need" poster. We hope you will stay to help Key Club inspire others and to spread positivity around our campus. See you soon!

GIRLS BASKETBALL - tryouts

  GIRLS BASKETBALL - tryouts are October 16th.17th, and 18th at 6am - 7am. students will need a physical on file with the school trainer. Enter the back of the school through the gym dressed in basketball gear. Any questions please email austin.diggs@cfisd.net

Red Poet Society Meeting

  Calling all Young Poets! Want to read famous poems, experiment with your own writing, and connect with fellow poetry lovers? Do you want your voice to be heard? Consider joining the Red Poet Society! We meet every Tuesday in room 2716. This meeting is your last chance for new members to join, so please make every effort to attend! Hispanic Heritage Month

  Buenos días Spartans, for Hispanic Heritage Month today we are recognizing Félix Rubén García Sarmiento, known as Rubén Darío, was a Nicaraguan poet who initiated the Spanish-language literary movement known as modernismo that flourished at the end of the 19th century. Darío had a great and lasting influence on 20th-century Spanish-language literature and journalism.

RED OUT Friday!

  "Attention, Spartans! On Friday, October 11th, we’re going all out with a Red Out! As we face the Woods Wildcats, let’s cover the stands in a sea of red. Wear your brightest red gear and show the Wildcats what Spartan pride looks like! See you Friday in your best red attire!"

  Picture retakes will be on Tuesday, October 15th, during your lunch time at the LGI.

ASVAB Career Exploration Program

  The ASVAB Career Exploration Program is designed to help students explore the world of work. A comprehensive career exploration and planning program that includes a multiple aptitude test battery, an interest inventory, and various career- planning tools. The ASVAB Test is being offered here at Cypress Lakes on November 21 at 7:30am in the auditorium. To register for the ASVAB Test stop by Admin Red or Admin Silver to pickup a registration form. All registration forms due back to Scarlet Jimenez located in Admin Silver or Maria Muñoz located in Admin Red. by November 18,2024

College Campus Tours

  It is time for our annual Prairie View A&M campus tour. PV is well known for their top tier Engineering, Nursing, Architecture, Education, Criminal Justice and Business programs. If you are a junior or senior and you are interested in attending Prairie View A&M University, please come and see Mrs. Po in room 3004 or Coach Hicks by October 18th. Do not let this opportunity pass you up. Space will be limited and you will have to meet certain qualifications.

Class of 2024 VB Tournament

  The Senior Class of 2025 is holding their first student fundraiser; A rapid elimination Volleyball Tournament on Wednesday, the 23rd of October from 3:00 to 4:30 pm in the auxiliary gym. Students who are spectators or want to watch may purchase tickets for $2 on school cash. Players will need to be approved before they may purchase their spot on their team for $3 on school cash. Teams will be made up of 6 co-ed players and no more than 1 Spartan volleyball player per team. To sign up, at least 4 out of 6 players on a team need to come after school on Thursday, Oct. 10th between 2:40 and 2:50 pm in Mrs. Fitzpatrick's room 2309 or with Ms. Blackwell in room 2316. You must have all 6 players' first and last name along with their student ID to sign up.

National English Honor Society Peer Tutoring

  The National English Honor Society will offer peer tutoring today after school in Room 2720. If you could use some help in your English class before report cards, ask your English teacher for details or stop by Room 2720 today to learn more.

Girls Soccer Bake Sale

  Girls soccer is having a bake sale after school on Wednesday. Come grab snacks before tutorials! Everything is a dollar!

National Honor Society (NHS) Interest Meeting

  The National Honor Society (NHS) will have an Interest Meeting on Tuesday, October 8 in the LGI at 2:50pm. This meeting is open to all Juniors and Seniors who are interested in service, leadership, character and scholarship.

Math UIL Meeting

  Math UIL will be meeting in portable B4 after school today. Come by if you are interested in math contests! See Mr. Whitney if you have any questions!

National Art Honor Society application

Cy Lakes Water Polo Match

  Today the boys and girls water polo team will be taking on Foster in the first round of playoffs at the LCISD Natatorium! Girls play at 5:30 and boys will play at 6:45! We look forward to seeing you all there!

Hispanic Heritage Month

  Buenos días Spartans, for Hispanic Heritage Month today we are recognizing Katya Echazarreta who made history as the first Mexican-born woman to travel to space at 26 years old. Selected for Blue Origin's spaceflight, she is also a passionate advocate for women in STEM. Katya's journey from electrical engineer to astronaut serves as an inspiration for young women and Latinos everywhere, proving that the sky is not the limit.

Hispanic Heritage Month

  Buenos días Spartans, for Hispanic Heritage Month today we are recognizing Francisco Rubio. Francisco is the first astronaut of Salvadoran descent selected by NASA, and again in 2022 when he launched on his first spaceflight. He is a flight surgeon, US Army colonel and helicopter pilot. He holds the American record for the longest spaceflight at 371 days.
