And now for your Black History Moment.

Today we honor former State Representative Al Edwards.

Edwards was a pioneering figure in Texas politics, serving in the Texas House of Representatives from 1979 to 2009. He is best known for his leadership in advancing civil rights, including his work to raise awareness and enact policies addressing racial equality and justice..He also lead the charge to make Juneteenth a state holiday earning him the name “The Father of Juneteenth”.

We would like to thank Trinity Evans for contributing to this morning’s announcement.

And this concludes your Black History Moment. You better wake up and pay attention!
