Black History Moment: Herman Marion Sweatt
And now for your Black History Moment:
Today we salute Heman Marion Sweatt.
Heman Sweatt was a pivotal figure in the early African American civil rights movement and is primarily known for his role in the landmark Supreme Court case Sweatt v Painter (1950).This case challenged the ¨separate but equal ¨ doctrine established by Plessy v. Ferguson (1896) and paved the way for desegregation in public schools. Sweatt was a black postal worker and a college graduate from Houston, Texas.
We would like to thank Davonte Clemons for this morning's announcement.
And this concludes your Black History Moment. You better wake up and pay attention!
