  Attention all Spartans, did you know that Houston is ranked #1 in the entire country for a human trafficking? Well, Empty Streets Club is dedicated to supporting survivors of human trafficking in the Houston area. Our mission is to help our city through spreading awareness, volunteering, and donating necessities such as hygiene products and food to the only shelter in our area. However, we cannot do this alone. YOU can join Empty Streets Club to help make a difference in our community in return for volunteer hours. Your generosity can change lives. We’re having a General Meeting followed by a Snack Packing Social this Wednesday in Room 2209. Everyone is welcome. See you there!

  Seniors! Your Class of 2025 Senior Sunset is Wednesday, April 30th, at the Cy Lakes Athletic Field from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. There will be a live DJ and a couple of vendors. You may bring money to pay for dinner food, snow cones, deserts, snacks, drinks and more. Your Prom Court will also be recognized. Grab your blankets and come hangout with your Class of 2025 to celebrate all your hard work and your many memories.

  Seniors! Prom is around the corner! The Class of 2025 Enchanted Evening Prom will be held on Saturday, May 3rd from 7 pm to 10 pm. Wednesday, April 30th is the last day to purchase tickets. Tickets may be purchased on School Cash Online and guests will need to be approved after filling out the guest form. Guest approval does take time.

  Four students of the CyLakes Choir program will be honored as Texas Music Scholars at a ceremony on May 10, 2025. The 4 students who were selected for this honor are: Valeria Bautista, 10th Grade, Soprano Christopher Noyola, 11th Grade, Tenor Ayriana Gray, 11th Grade, Alto Elizabeth Sanchez, 11th Grade, Alto They were nominated for this honor by their director, Lelah Loftin, and the award is given by the Texas Music Educators Association, which sponsors the Texas AlI-State Bands, Orchestras and Choirs. This award is given to students who have exhibited outstanding qualities in scholastic merit, musicianship, and citizenship in their school and community during the 2024-2025 school year. Congratulations to these phenomenal young musicians!

  Band, drill team, cheerleading, and all athletics, there will be physicals on Thursday, May 1st from 2:00pm - 5:00pm in the competition gym. Cost is $20 by cash or money order only. You can pick-up physical paperwork in the athletic training room. The online portion of the paperwork MUST be completed prior to getting the physical. Physicals must be complete prior to you participating in SAC, SSI, camps, try-outs, practices, or competitions. You can turn completed paperwork and payment into the athletic training room prior to physicals to reserve your spot in line.

  On Thursday, May 1st during 7th period, we will be hosting a Mental Health Walk on the track field, and we encourage both teachers and students to participate! The theme for this year’s Mental Health Awareness Month is Turn Awareness Into Action, focusing on taking meaningful steps toward wellness through advocacy, education, and community engagement. Wristbands will be on sale next week, Monday through Wednesday, during all lunches for just $3. Only students with a wristband will be allowed to participate. Let’s walk together for mental health awareness!

Congratulations to  Julius Malone,  who won first place in the high jump at the Regional Track Meet this past weekend in Waco.  Julius  will compete at the State Track and Field contest next weekend on the campus of UT. This is the first time Lakes has had a State qualifier in high jump, and if you know  Julius , you know he has fought long and hard for this!
